Hebrew is a language of the Afro-Asiatic family spoken by more than six million people and is, along with Arabic, one of the two official languages of Israel.

Israel is the Middle East country most tolerant with the LGBT community and its institutions separate everything concerning the sexual diversity of religion (except marriage, which is no mean feat), and they use this acceptance as a differentiating element of modernity and democracy with respect to the surrounding countries (which is not too difficult).

Homosexual behavior has been legal since 1988, although by 1963 the Supreme Court had ruled that the Buggery Act, inherited from British law, should not apply to consensual sex between two adults. In Israel, there is no equal marriage since there is only religious marriage, though they recognize an equal marriage performed abroad and grant them the same rights, so many couples get married out and then are recognized. The same problem has heterosexual couples who do not want a religious marriage. In Israel, homoparental adoption is legal and they have anti-discrimination legislation. There is a lot of activism, activities, culture and LGBT business and pride is celebrated in several cities. The most important one is celebrated in Tel-Aviv.
